First find out whether the washer has a heater at all. Most US top-loaders and many front-loaders don't — they take hot water from the house water heater and mix it with cold. Then "won't heat" = no hot water at the inlet: water heater, valve, swapped hoses, hot-side screen or valve coil. Front-loaders with a heater (Sanitize, Steam, Allergen; Bosch/Miele/LG/Samsung/Whirlpool Duet) heat on their own: heater element, thermistor, board relay. Unplug the washer. Find the model (label under the lid, on the door or at the back) and check the manual/tech sheet: is there an internal heater? Clues: Sanitize, Steam, Allergen, Hot+Heater, "Extra Hot" cycles almost always mean a heater. A regular US Whirlpool/Maytag/GE/Speed Queen top-loader can't heat on its own.
Write down any code: LG tE (thermistor), HE (heater); Samsung HE/HE1/HC (heater), tE/tC (temperature sensor); Whirlpool front-load F3E2 (thermistor); Bosch E19/F19 (heating time exceeded), E20/F20 (unexpected heating).

Открой ближайший к машине горячий кран (мойка в прачечной) и измерь температуру через 30–60 секунд. Бойлер обычно настроен на ~120°F (49°C). Если в кране чуть тёплая — проблема в бойлере, не в машине.
Если машина далеко от бойлера, в начале набора идёт остывшая вода из трубы — короткие циклы получаются едва тёплыми. Совет: перед стиркой открыть горячий кран рядом и спустить воду до горячей.
Убедись, что кран горячей воды за машиной открыт полностью.
Open the hot tap nearest the washer (laundry sink) and measure after 30–60 seconds. Water heaters are usually set to ~120°F (49°C). If the tap is barely warm — it's the water heater, not the washer.
If the washer is far from the water heater, the start of the fill is cooled water from the pipe — short fills come out barely warm. Tip: run the nearby hot tap until hot before starting.
Make sure the hot valve behind the washer is fully open.

Перекрой краны, отверни оба шланга от машины. Горячий шланг должен идти на вход H (обычно слева, красная метка). Перепутанные шланги — частая ошибка после переезда.
Внутри входов клапана стоят сетки (inlet screens). Аккуратно вытащи утконосами, промой. Забитая сетка на горячем входе = почти одна холодная вода. Направь каждый шланг в ведро и открой кран — напор должен быть сильный.
Close the valves and unscrew both hoses from the washer. The hot hose must go to the H inlet (usually left, red mark). Swapped hoses are a common mistake after a move.
Inside the valve inlets are screens. Pull them gently with needle-nose pliers and rinse. A clogged hot screen = almost all cold water. Aim each hose into a bucket and open the valve — flow should be strong.

Запусти набор на Hot и посмотри в барабан/потрогай подающий шланг: если идёт только холодная — клапан горячей воды не открывается.

Start a Hot fill and look into the drum/feel the fill hose: if only cold comes in, the hot valve isn't opening.
Unplug, get to the valve (top-load — console/rear panel, front-load — the top). Disconnect the hot coil (on Kenmore/Whirlpool the hot wires are often red, cold white) and measure resistance.

ТЭН фронталки стоит внизу бака, обычно спереди (LG, Samsung, Whirlpool Duet, Bosch — за передней или нижней панелью) или сзади (часть европейских моделей). Видна пластина с двумя контактами питания, болтом/гайкой по центру и часто с термистором рядом или прямо в ТЭНе (LG).
Доступ: слей воду через фильтр, сними нижнюю/переднюю панель (на LG — после снятия верхней крышки, панели управления и манжеты). Сфотографируй провода.
A front-loader heater sits at the bottom of the tub, usually at the front (LG, Samsung, Whirlpool Duet, Bosch — behind the front or lower panel) or at the back (some European models). You'll see a plate with two power terminals, a center nut/bolt and often the thermistor next to it or built into the heater (LG).
Access: drain through the filter, remove the lower/front panel (on LG — after removing the top, the control panel and the boot). Photograph the wiring.

Сними провода с контактов ТЭНа. Измерь:
1. Сопротивление между двумя контактами. Оценить ожидаемое можно по мощности с наклейки: R ≈ V² / P. Например, 120 В и 1000 Вт → ~14 Ω; 240 В и 2000 Вт → ~29 Ω.
2. Изоляцию: каждый контакт → металлический корпус/гайка ТЭНа (земля). Должно быть OL. Любое показание — ТЭН пробит на корпус (часто выбивает GFCI-розетку).
Если на ТЭНе есть термопредохранитель/термовыключатель — проверь его на непрерывность.
Pull the wires off the heater terminals. Measure:
1. Resistance between the two terminals. Estimate the expected value from the rating label: R ≈ V² / P. E.g. 120 V and 1000 W → ~14 Ω; 240 V and 2000 W → ~29 Ω.
2. Insulation: each terminal → the heater's metal sheath/nut (ground). Must read OL. Any reading — the heater is shorted to ground (often trips a GFCI outlet).
If the heater has a thermal fuse/cutout — check it for continuity.

Check the wires from the board to the heater for breaks and burnt terminals. Then reconnect everything, start a heated cycle (Sanitize/Hot) or the heater test in service mode (Samsung, LG, Whirlpool — see iFixit), and carefully backprobe the heater terminals after fill: ~120 VAC (or 240 VAC depending on model).
No voltage with good wiring — the heater relay on the board. Many washers only energize the heater when the level sensor sees enough water: if the level isn't reached, heating won't start.
