Use this guide to diagnose an Electrolux washing machine that will not fill with water and shows an E11 or F2 error code. Common causes include low water supply, clogged inlet screens, a failed water valve, a pressure-sensor problem, a damaged or sudsy pressure hose, or a rare control-board failure. The pressure sensor, also called the pressure switch, tells the washer how much water is in the tub. The water valve, also called the inlet valve or fill valve, opens to let hot and cold water into the dispenser and tub. This guide was written around a modern Electrolux front-load washer layout, including 600 Series-style water valves, so other models may differ slightly.
🧰 Tools
- Needle Nose Pliers
- Flathead Screwdriver
- Putty Knife
- Phillips #2 Screwdriver
- Digital Multimeter
⚙️ Parts
- Pressure switch
- Water inlet valve
ШагиSteps
1
Gather tools and prepare safely
- Gather a Phillips screwdriver, needle nose pliers, a multimeter, and back probes if you plan to test the control board.
- Turn off both wall water valves before removing the fill hoses.
- Unplug the washer before removing panels, hoses, or wire connectors.
2
Check the wall water supply
- Remove the hot and cold fill hoses from the back of the washer.
- Confirm that both wall valves supply water pressure.
3
Inspect the inlet screens
- Inspect the washer inlets where the fill hoses thread onto the water valve.
- Look for gunk, rust, debris, or clogged valve screens.
- Use needle nose pliers to pull the small screens out for inspection.
- Clean any clogged screens before reinstalling them.
- Reinstall the screens and fill hoses, then turn the wall water valves back on.
4
Enter diagnostic mode
- Plug in the washer and leave the power off.
- Press Power to boot the washer.
- Select the Normal wash mode with the dial or cycle selector.
- Press Start, let the door lock, and let the washer run for about 10 seconds.
- Cancel the cycle, turn the washer off, and wait a few seconds.
- Press Power again and leave the selector on Normal.
- Within 10 seconds, press and hold Temperature and Option Select Deselect for 3 seconds.
5
Run the fill valve tests
- Rotate the dial to a diagnostic mode from one through six.
- Listen for water entering the tub as each mode forces a valve open.
- Repeat the test through modes one through six to check the different valve sections.
- Watch the number on the display or dial during each fill test.
6
Read the pressure value
- Confirm that the displayed number rises as water fills the tub.
- Inspect the pressure sensor and pressure hose if the number does not rise.
- Let the washer fill until it shuts off automatically.
7
Interpret the diagnostic results
- Suspect the pressure hose, pressure sensor, or suds in the pressure hose if the washer errors out before the display reaches 140.
- Select test 11 to run the drain pump and remove the water after a successful fill test.
- Select test 13 to view stored error codes.
- Power the washer down after diagnostics.
8
Remove the top panel
- Unplug the washer and remove the fill hoses again if needed.
- Move the washer so you can reach the rear of the cabinet.
- Remove the two screws from the back of the top panel with a Phillips screwdriver.
- Pull the top panel rearward and remove it.
- Locate the water valves at the rear of the cabinet.
- Locate the pressure sensor in the front-left corner when viewing the washer from behind.
9
Replace the pressure sensor
- Rotate the pressure sensor one-quarter turn and lift it out of its mount.
- Unplug the wire harness from the pressure sensor.
- Press the hose clip and pull the hose off the sensor.
- Inspect the hose connection for damage or suds before installing a new sensor.
- Install a matching 5304505436 Electrolux pressure switch if the sensor failed.
- Reattach the hose and clip, then reconnect the wire harness.
- Press the sensor into place or rotate it one-quarter turn to lock it.
10
Inspect the pressure hose
- Follow the pressure hose down the side of the washer to the sump area.
- Remove the six screws from the rear back plate with a Phillips screwdriver if you need access from behind.
- Disconnect the hose and pressure-test it if you suspect damage, blockage, or suds.
- Blow or push pressure through the hose to clear suds that could keep the sensor from reading water level correctly.
11
Access the water valve
- Remove the four screws from the rear vibration damper with a Phillips screwdriver.
- Lift the damper up and out.
- Remove the right dispenser-brace screw.
- Loosen the left dispenser-brace screw.
- Slide the dispenser assembly forward slightly if the slot gives you more room around the valves.
12
Disconnect the valve
- Disconnect the wire harnesses from the water valves.
- Remove the left valve screw and the right valve screw with a Phillips screwdriver.
- Remove the hidden underside valve screw.
13
Remove the water valve
- Use a flathead screwdriver or blunt putty knife to pry the valve away from the dispenser.
- Watch the rubber grommets on each valve as the valve separates from the dispenser.
- Move any grommets that lifted off with the old valve onto the new valve.
- Leave any grommets that stayed in the dispenser where they are.
14
Install the water valve
- Position a matching 5304528029 Electrolux water valve on the rear of the dispenser.
- Use the rubber grommets to help hold the valve in place while you start the screws.
- Install the two side screws lightly.
- Tighten the hidden bottom screw fully.
- Tighten the two side screws fully.
- Reinstall the damper and the two dispenser-brace screws.
- Reconnect the valve wire harnesses.
15
Reassemble and test the washer
- Reinstall the top panel and the two rear screws.
- Reconnect the fill hoses and turn the wall water valves back on.
- Plug the washer in and run a fill cycle or diagnostic fill test.
- Check the hose connections, water valve, and dispenser area for leaks.
16
Prepare for control board testing
- Use this live-voltage test only if the inlet screens are clean and the pressure sensor, pressure hose, and water valve do not explain the problem.
- Leave the top panel off, reconnect water and power, and enter diagnostic mode.
- Set the multimeter to AC voltage.
- Install back probes on the multimeter leads.
- Locate the white neutral wire from the power plug at control-board connector J1-2.
17
Measure valve voltage
- Place one multimeter probe on the J1-2 white neutral wire.
- Rotate the dial through diagnostic modes one through eight.
- Touch the other probe to the wire-harness contacts leading to the water valves.
- A working board should send about 120 volts AC from J1-2 to the active valve-harness contact.
- Treat the control board as failed if no valve-harness contact shows 120 volts AC in any fill mode.
18
Decide on control board replacement
- Unplug the washer before removing the control board or any board connectors.
- Replace the control board only after confirming that it does not send 120 volts AC to any valve during the fill tests.
Run a normal cycle and watch the washer fill, stop filling, drain, and finish without leaking or returning the E11 or F2 error. Repair didn't go as planned? Ask our Answers community for help.
